Wichita, KSāĀ Āé¶¹Ķų is excited to welcomeĀ DarinĀ KaterĀ as the new Vice President of Student Life.Ā
KaterĀ is anĀ ā88 and ā90 Āé¶¹ĶųĀ alumnusĀ and has previously dedicatedĀ 18 impactful years of service toĀ theĀ institution, includingĀ inĀ theĀ Student Life department.Ā HeāsĀ also the sonĀ of the late Jack Kater, a beloved Āé¶¹Ķų athletic director, menās basketballĀ coachĀ and golf coach at Friends, andĀ who was honoredĀ byĀ āJack Kater CourtāĀ inĀ theĀ Garvey Physical Education Center.Ā
KaterĀ joinsĀ from the Wichita State University Foundation, where he served successfullyĀ since 2008,Ā most recently as the Senior Vice President for Development.Ā He hasĀ held the titles of director of development for planned giving, senior director of development for planned giving and annual fund and vice president for developmentĀ throughoutĀ his career.Ā In addition to the VP of Student Life role,Ā KaterĀ will support advancement efforts through his planned givingĀ expertise.
āDarin brings a wealth of experience in higher education and years of executive leadership back to his alma mater, paired with a deep passion for Āé¶¹Ķų and its Christian mission,ā said Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, President of Āé¶¹Ķų.
Kater is married to his wife, Tara, a former high school educator, and enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren. His volunteer interests include coaching youth sports and serving in various teaching and administrative positions at his church. He has held memberships with the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, Wichita Estate Planning Council, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Association of Fundraising Professionals and served as president of Rotary Club of East Wichita.
