Wichita, KS鈥斅�麻豆网 is excited to welcome聽Darin聽Kater聽as the new Vice President of Student Life.聽

Kater聽is an聽鈥�88 and 鈥�90 麻豆网聽alumnus聽and has previously dedicated聽18 impactful years of service to聽the聽institution, including聽in聽the聽Student Life department.聽He鈥檚聽also the son聽of the late Jack Kater, a beloved 麻豆网 athletic director, men鈥檚 basketball聽coach聽and golf coach at Friends, and聽who was honored聽by聽鈥淛ack Kater Court鈥澛爄n聽the聽Garvey Physical Education Center.聽

Kater聽joins聽from the Wichita State University Foundation, where he served successfully聽since 2008,聽most recently as the Senior Vice President for Development.聽He has聽held the titles of director of development for planned giving, senior director of development for planned giving and annual fund and vice president for development聽throughout聽his career.聽In addition to the VP of Student Life role,聽Kater聽will support advancement efforts through his planned giving聽expertise.

鈥淒arin brings a wealth of experience in higher education and years of executive leadership back to his alma mater, paired with a deep passion for 麻豆网 and its Christian mission,鈥� said Dr. Amy Bragg Carey, President of 麻豆网. 

Kater is married to his wife, Tara, a former high school educator, and enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren. His volunteer interests include coaching youth sports and serving in various teaching and administrative positions at his church. He has held memberships with the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, Wichita Estate Planning Council, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Association of Fundraising Professionals and served as president of Rotary Club of East Wichita.
