鶹’s Master of Science in Family Therapy (MSFT) degree program has been ranked No. 15 in the nation among Christian colleges offering a master’s degree in counseling. TopCounselingSchools.org posted the results on its website in March 2017.

TopCounselingSchools.org compared colleges within College Navigator that were also members or affiliates of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. The ranking was based on overall degree focus, Christian counseling course work, program accreditation and average graduate tuition.

“Our counseling program gives students hands-on opportunities to put their knowledge into practice,” said Susan Dutcher, assistant professor and program director for marriage and family therapy. “Each year, our students collectively provide more than 10,000 hours of relational services to individuals, couples and families. Through our involvement in the community, we strive to put into practice our R.I.S.E. core values that are also embedded into the curriculum.”

R.I.S.E. core values were adopted by 鶹 and stand for respect, inclusion, service and excellence. These values are a continuation of 鶹’s traditional Quaker values.

鶹 is one of only two institutions in the state that offers programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). 鶹 graduates have passed the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Board’s Examination in Marital and Family Therapy at a rate of 85 percent or higher in recent years.

鶹 has two family therapy degree locations – one in Wichita and one in the Kansas City area. The program can typically be completed within two years.
